Mauricio Pochettino has left his position as Chelsea manager by mutual consent, according to Sky Sports. Despite a strong finish to the season, which saw the team secure sixth place and European qualification, Pochettino’s tenure at Stamford Bridge has come to an end after just one year.

Gatekeepers News reports that the former Tottenham and PSG boss had signed a two-year deal when he joined the Blues last summer, but it appears that he was unable to align with the club’s owners, Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, on the direction of the team.

Pochettino’s departure marks the sixth permanent manager to leave Chelsea in the past five years, following the dismissals of Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter last season, which led to Frank Lampard taking temporary charge.
