Gatekeepers News reports the campaign, which kicked off on May 20, 2024, at Government Secondary School, GUI in Abuja, aims to cover all 84 government schools in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and eventually extend to educational institutions across the 36 states of the federation.
MEVEF, a non-governmental, non-profit organization, focuses on developing individuals for self-reliance through vocational skills acquisition, entrepreneurship empowerment, agriculture, health, and education. Through this campaign, the organization seeks to instill essential virtues of character and selflessness crucial for nation-building among young Nigerians.
The initiative involves a rebranding effort to promote quality character, foster a sense of patriotism and national unity, guide students on career choices, offer free vocational skills training, and provide basic first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training to contribute to national development.
MEVEF has partnered with FCT-SEB to support its annual back-to-school project, which includes distributing stationery, bags, and shoes to students, mentoring them on character building, and providing free vocational training annually.
The collaboration with MOMTAN aims to promote skills acquisition through the national rebranding scheme, “Skilled Youths for Self-Reliance,” developing self-sustaining youths who can contribute to national development.
