Ramaphosa’s ANC Takes Early Lead In South Africa’s National Elections

The ruling African National Congress (ANC) is currently leading in South Africa’s national and provincial elections.

Gatekeepers News reports that ANC is the political party of President Cyril Ramaphosa, who is seeking re-election.

Early results show the ANC with 42.58% of the votes, followed by the Democratic Alliance (DA) with 25.82% and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) with 8.47%.

The newly formed uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK) party, backed by former President Jacob Zuma, has 7.83% of the votes.

The ANC has been in power since the end of apartheid in 1994, but it faces challenges due to issues like power blackouts, violent crime, poverty, and unemployment. If the ANC loses its parliamentary majority, it may need to form a coalition with other parties.
