Special adviser on information and strategy to President Bola Tinubu, Bayo Onanuga has said that the minister of finance and coordinating minister of the economy, Wale Edun didn’t propose N105,000 as the new minimum wage.
Gatekeepers News reports that Onanuga made the clarification through a post on his official X account on Thursday.
He said “The Honorable Minister of Finance and coordinating minister of the economy, Wale Edun has not proposed N105,000 minimum wage,” he posted.
“The contrary story being disseminated is false.”
Onanuga made the disclaimer a few hours after came hours Edun submitted new national minimum wage options and projected cost implications to President Tinubu, on his request.
The request came after organised labour suspended its strike to further negotiate with the federal government.
Organised labour had proposed N615,500 and then N494,000 as the new national minimum wage, which the federal government disagreed with, saying it was unrealistic.
