President Bola Tinubu has renamed the M18 road in the Guzape district of Abuja as the Chinua Achebe Expressway.

Gatekeepers News reports that this move comes after the president inaugurated the road on Saturday.

Olusegun Dada, the President’s Special Assistant on social media, announced the news, stating that the road was named after the late novelist “in recognition of his contributions to Nigerian literature and culture.”

Chinua Achebe was a celebrated Nigerian novelist, poet, and critic who passed away in 2013 at the age of 83.

He is regarded as one of the pioneers of modern African literature.

The move is seen as a recognition of Achebe’s lasting impact on Nigerian literature and culture.

This honor comes just days after President Tinubu named a road after another literary icon, Wole Soyinka, the first African to win the Nobel Prize for literature.
