NSCDC Destroys Illegal Refinary- Arrests Three

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested three suspects at an illegal oil refinery in Rivers.

Gatekeepers News reports that the corps spokesman, Babawale Afolabi revealed this through a statement released on Monday in Abuja.

The spokesman said that the illegal bunkering activities site was located at Nembe/Odagwa Creek in Etche LGA of the state.

Afolabi explained that a large dug-out reservoir constructed and padded with tarpaulin which could contain 100,000 litres of illegally refined crude oil was uncovered at the site.

He also said that the suspects are currently assisting with all necessary information and would be charged in court after a thorough investigation is done.

Afolabi said, “Upon sighting our operatives some of the suspects abandoned the illegal bunkering site and took to their heels maneuvering through the creek.”

He applauded the citizens who had constantly provided solid intelligence that led to the arrest of the suspects and urged them not to stop doing so.

The spokesman added, “Our commitment to rid the nation of all acts of economic sabotage in the oil region remains firm and we will not be deterred.”

”We advise those engaging in such unscrupulous business to repent or face the full wrath of the law.”
