Burna Boy Didn’t Pay All Patients Bill— UPTH

University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) has faulted reports that the Nigerian musician, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu aka Burna Boy, covered all medical bills for patients during a recent visit to the hospital.

Gatekeepers News reports that the hospital made clear that Burna Boy only paid the bills of selected patients at the facility.

Before this, lots of blogs and news sites had reported earlier this week that Burna Boy paid the hospital bills for all the patients at the hospital.

The teaching hospital’s spokesman, Elabha Meni, made the clarification through a statement released in Port Harcourt on Friday.

He said “We commend Burna Boy’s kindness in financially assisting select patients in our hospital to offset their bills during his visit on June 11.”

“However, contrary to reports stating that all patients’ bills in UPTH were paid during the visit, only selected patients received cash gifts or donations.”

Meni added,”The hospital did not receive direct payments from the musician and his team on behalf of patients to support this worthy course of reducing healthcare costs.”

The spokesman further commensed the musician’s charitable act in helping those in need in society.
