A lone auto accident occurred at University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) on Thursday afternoon when a commercial bus aka Korope conveying students out of the school tumbled.
Gatekeepers News reports that the bus which had ten people in it allegedly tumbled when a tire burst while it was in motion.
A video obtained from a source shows some of the university security officials trying to manage the situation.
A body could be seen lying lifeless on the roadside, with blood on the face, while a man in a suit was struggling to stand up and fell.
The management of the school has confirmed the tragic incident through a statement released by its Director of Corporate Affairs for management, Kunle Akogun.
The school noted that it immediately conducted rescue operations when the incident occurred, adding that all the victims were transported and attended to at the University Health Centre.
It added that one of the victims who needed advanced treatment was transferred to University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital after he was stabilised.
The school noted that four out of them had minor injuries and they were treated and discharged, however, one of the victims was brought in dead and the body was transferred to the morgue.
It further noted that the school is making efforts to contact the deceased’s next of kin.
The statement added, “The management regrets this unfortunate incident, condoles with the family of the deceased, and prays God to comfort the family while we pray for a quick recovery of the injured victims.”
