Senate President Godswill Akpabio has apologized to Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (Kogi Central) for his recent remark, urging her not to speak like she was in a “night club.”
Gatekeepers News reports that Akpabio made the comment after Akpoti-Uduaghan spoke without being recognised by the Senate President.
On Tuesday, Akpabio expressed remorse, stating, “I will not intentionally denigrate any woman, and I always pray that God will uplift women.”
He addressed Akpoti-Uduaghan directly, saying, “Distinguished Senator Natasha, I want to apologise to you. The interest shown on social media shows that we have enemies. I felt I should tender a public apology to you. I do not mean any harm.”
Akpabio also denied social media claims about having “numerous girlfriends,” emphasising, “I have only one wife, and she is enough for me.”
The apology comes after the Voices for Inclusion and Equity for Women (VIEW) criticised Akpabio for his alleged disrespect towards female senators.
