The Concerned North East Youths Coalition, comprising young leaders from North East Nigeria and influential figures in the social media sphere, on Wednesday, urged youths in the region to consider the option of dialoging with the Federal Government and table their demands instead of embarking on protests.
Gatekeepers News reports that the group, led by Aliyu Mohammed also requested the President Bola Tinubu-led administration to prioritise the development of critical infrastructure in the region, including the Mabila Hydropower Station, major economic roads, and the Port Harcourt Maiduguri rail line.
Also, “we call for the allocation of resources to address security challenges in the region, particularly in the realms of social and humanitarian services,” Mohammed said.
Mohammed who stated this in a statement released by his group- said the option of dialogue where all issues would be laid bare far outweighs protesting on the streets.
“Our primary objective is to promote peace and stability in our nation and states. In light of the difficulties faced by our communities, we emphasize the significance of constructive engagement and advocate for dialogue and collaboration over protests in our pursuit of rights.
“We sincerely acknowledge the unwavering efforts of the federal government, led by President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, in addressing the challenges facing the nation.
“We also extend our gratitude to the North East Governors Forum, under the leadership of Professor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State, for their steadfast commitment to restoring peace and promoting development in the region.
“Moreso, we express our appreciation to the North East Development Commission (NEDC)for its commendable work in advancing the development of our region and its presence in nearly all our communities.
“To our state governors, we emphasize the importance of committing to youth employment, engagement, and empowerment to prevent idleness and foster development,” Mohammed said.
