JUST IN: DSS Arrests Protest Leaders In Katsina

Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested leaders of #EndBadGovernance protest in Katsina State.

Gatekeepers News reports that a local source revealed that two leaders of the protest, Kabir Shehu Yandaki and Habibu Ruma were invited to DSS office in Katsina and subsequently detained.

Also, another youth who led the protest in Malumfashi LGA, Mujittapha Usman was arrested by security forces.

Some of the detainees’ friends who disclosed the development to local media said DSS called the duo earlier in the morning. They requested their presence at their office to answer questions about the previous day’s protest.

However, according to the source; when they arrived at Katsina DSS headquarters, they were detained and are yet to be released as of the time of filing this report.

The peaceful protest was initially disrupted when a mob, including many minors, converged on streets in the state capital, with sticks and leaves in their hands. They chanted “Bamuyi Bamuyi” and destroyed public facilities.

Protesters burnt down one NSCDC patrol vehicle and razed down the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) office in Dutsinma LGA.

The violent acts then made Katsina State Government on Friday morning to impose a 24-hour curfew on Dutsinma LGA and a 7 pm to 7 am curfew on remaining 34 LGAs of the state.
