Nationwide Protest: Ebonyi To Empower 1,300 Youths With N1.3bn

Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru’s administration will empower 1,300 youths in thirteen (13) local government areas of the state with N1.3 billion to grow their businesses.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Governor said this is in his bid to alleviate the sufferings of youths in the state and make them self-reliant.

Nwifuru revealed this while speaking at Empowerment and Account of Stewardship by Hon Nwachukwu Eze, a member representing, Ebonyi/Ohaukwu federal constituency at Umuogudu Akpu Ngbo, Ohaukwu.

The Governor noted that he aims to appreciate the youths for heeding his advice to refrain from the ongoing nationwide protests in some parts of the nation.

He said, “Our youths have shown they are highly responsible and exceptional by accepting my appeal not to join the protest in the interest of the state. I am indebted to them and I promise you I will continue to assist you to harness your potential,” the governor assured.”

Nwifuru noted that 24km Umuoguduosha- NigerCem Road has been awarded, adding that the road was awarded to two contractors to ensure speedy completion within 18 months.

Also, Pastor Eze Nwachukwu Eze, a member representing Ebonyi/Ohaukwu federal constituency distributed 4 units of mini tractors, 30 cutting machines, five units of dormer machines, 1,000 bags of fertiliser, and 4,000 improved varieties of palm trees to farmers in his constituency.

Also distributed were 25 sewing machines, 25 grinding machines, and 25 sets of frying utensils to widows who lost their husbands during the Agilla/Ngbo communal crisis, which claimed thousands of lives.

The lawmaker who lamented over the thousands of lives lost during the war, further expressed joy over restoration of peace between people of Agilla community in Benue State and Ngbo Community in Ebonyi State.

He noted that since he assumed office as a member representing Ebonyi and Ohaukwu federal constituency, he has worked assiduously towards restoring lasting peace between the two communities.
