NUPRC To Revise Domestic Crude Oil Supply Regulations

Nigeria Set To Boost Oil Production With New 50,000 bpd Utapate Terminal
Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has announced plans to amend the Domestic Crude Supply Obligations Regulations 2023.

Gatekeepers News reports that Gbenga Komolafe, CEO of NUPRC, invited stakeholders to provide input on the regulations, as well as the national data repository regulations, within 21 days.

“In line with Section 216 (1) of the PIA 2021, which requires the commission to consult with stakeholders before finalising regulations or amendments to regulations, we hereby invite inputs from lessees, licensees, permit holders, host communities, and other stakeholders,” Komolafe said.

The commission aims to give meaning to the intent of the Petroleum Industry Act 2021 through this stakeholder consultation process. Submissions can be made using a format accessible on the NUPRC website and must be received within 21 days.

This move comes after the NUPRC issued new rules in April requiring oil producers to prioritize domestic refineries for crude sales before meeting foreign demands.
