A three-day burial plan for civil servant who designed Nigerian National Flag, Pa Michael Akinkunmi Taiwo will begin on Wednesday, September 4, and end on Friday, September 6, 2024, in Ibadan.
Gatekeepers News reports that the deceased’s son, Akinwumi Akinkunmi revealed this through a statement released on behalf of the family in Ibadan on Monday.
Recall that Pa Michael Akinkunmi Taiwo died on August 29, 2023, at the age of 87 after a brief illness.
The family requested that national flag be flown at half-mast in honour of the deceased during the burial.
They expressed appreciation to Federal Government for its concern, especially condolence visit from a delegation led by Minister of Information, Hon. Idris Mohammed.
The deceased’s family further disclosed that they are still awaiting the promised financial support from Federal Government.
They said, “We thank the Federal Government for sending the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Hon. Idris Mohammed, to pay condolences to the family when the incident happened.”
“We are still hopeful of hearing from the Federal Government regarding its promises concerning the burial plan.”
The family appreciated the support provided by members of 7th Oyo State House of Assembly, the Chairman of the Oyo State Advisory Council, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde SAN, and members of council for standing by the family.
The family also expressed gratitude to Alhaja (Senator) Monsurat Sunmonnu and Honourable Bolomope for their support of Pa Akinkunmi during his lifetime and in aftermath of his passing.
