Lagos State Government arrested 21 suspects during a coordinated surveillance operation conducted on Saturday in Ikoyi, Victoria Island, and Lekki-Ajah areas of the state.
Gatekeepers News reports that the state Commissioner for Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab revealed this through a statement posted on X.
Wahab said the operation was carried out to tackle menace of miscreants and destitutes causing a nuisance in those axes.
He wrote, “Coordinated surveillance was today carried out to checkmate the menace of miscreants and nuisance caused by destitutes across Ikoyi, VI and Lekki-Ajah corridor.”
“Awolowo way, Alfred Rewane road in Ikoyi and the Lekki-Ajah express way, were monitored all day.”
“Three ex-convicts, one internet stalker, plus 17 other suspected miscreants and persons dealing in the illegal sale of petroleum products along the roads were arrested during the operation.”
He said that the operation also led to the recovery of substances suspected to be Indian hemp and gallons of fuel.
Wahab added that the suspects will be arraigned in court accordingly.
