Sokoto Announces Recruitment Of 845 Nurses And Midwives

Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto has described education as the foundation upon which he is building a new Sokoto State where every child has the opportunities for self-fulfillment.

Gatekeepers News reports that Governor Aliyu made the statement through Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi, Commissioner of Higher Education who represented him at the convocation ceremony of 88 returnee medical students held at Kasarawa Conference Centre, Sokoto.

The Governor said, “Education is Number One on my 9-point agent because of the serious importance that I attach to it”

The medical graduates whose studies at Sudan International University Khartoum were disrupted by the war in Sudan were through the efforts of Sokoto State Government able to continue their studies at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Medical College, where they completed their medical programme.

The commissioner lauded the Governor’s uncommon commitment to higher education in the state in “words and actions”

He said, “The Governor’s funding and support of education is unprecedented. We in the education sector are happy with the Governor.”

Alhaji Aminu also described the sterling achievements so far recorded in the state, as a result of top priority accorded to the education sector by the governor.

The Commissioner further described the Governor as education-friendly who ensured that their dream to become medical doctors was not aborted by the circumstances beyond their control, hence he took every step to ensure that they completed their studies.

He said, “One third of the budget for this year is dedicated to education, our tertiary institutions have benefited from accreditation and infrastructure which is part of the Governor Sokoto’s agenda”.

Alhaji Aminu assured that the Governor’s unwavering commitment and priority to higher education will continue because he considers education as a right of every citizen of the state.

The Commissioner extended Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s congratulations to the graduating students and urged them to utilize their knowledge to serve humanity.

He assured the graduands of the state government support for those willing to further their studies.
