National Chairman of Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) and Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu on Wednesday donated the sum of N500 Million to victims of last week’s flooding that led to the death of an unspecified number of residents and destroyed properties in Maiduguri and Jere Councils
Gatekeepers News report that Mrs Tinubu said the donation will go a long in assisting the victims to bounce back after the devastating floods.
This was made known when the Wife of the Vice President, Hajja Nana Kashim Shettima who represented Mrs Tinubu paid a sympathy visit to the Borno State Governor, Prof Babagana Zulum over the flood disaster.
“The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu asked me to extend heartfelt sympathy to the government, people and particularly the victims of the flood disaster.
“The Mother of the Nation assured of her continued support to the people of Borno State. She prayed for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives to the disaster and assured others who lost their means of livelihood to keep hope alive.
“Mrs Oluremi Tinubu asked me to present N500 Million to support the victims and complement the good work that State Governor, Prof Babagana Zulum is doing.”
Governor Zulum commended the First Lady for her show of love and compassion towards the victims of the flood disaster.
Prof. Zulum assured that the monies donated with be judiciously channeled to the targeted persons
“As the First Lady of Nigeria, we’ve received a lot of donations from her initiative. We believe in the long run, this support will go a long way to reduce poverty and create jobs in the state,” Zulum said.
