Candidate of Progressives Congress (APC), Monday Okpebholo scored the highest votes in Edo state governorship election held on Saturday.
Gatekeepers News reports that formalities for the announcement started around 11:41 am on Sunday at conference hall of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Edo State.
The Returning Officer for the election, Professor Faruq Adamu Kuta, Vice Chancellor, of Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna, Niger State declared Okpebhole declared the APC candidate the winner of the poll.
At the end of the result announcement, Okpebholo had a total vote of 291,667. His closest opponent, candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ituah Ighodalo had total votes of 247,274.
APC also won in 11 of the state’s 18 local governments.
