Flood: Borno Govt Begins Fumigation In Maiduguri

Borno State Government has commenced fumigation in Maiduguri, the state capital as floodwaters subside.

Gatekeepers News reports that Senior Special Adviser to Babagana Zulum, the state Governor on New media, Abdurrahman Bundi revealed this while briefing journalists at the Flood Disaster Situation Room in Maiduguri.

The special adviser said the exercise was going on in earnest as displaced persons return home.

Bundi noted that the measure aims to contain the possibility of an outbreak related to the devastating floods that affected sewage systems and other dangerous items.

He said, “About 15 major areas have been fumigated, including hospitals, correctional service quarters, Fire Service quarters, and parts of Gwange and Shehuri wards.”

Meanwhile, the flood continuously caused severe damage to farmlands and roads on the outskirts of Maiduguri, leading to the cutting off of Maiduguri–Mafa–Dikwa–Gamboru road.
