Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has congratulated the nation on marking its 64th Independence Anniversary.
Gatekeepers News reports that the association in a statement released, emphasised the country’s economic achievements and future potential.
National President of NACCIMA, Dele Kelvin Oye extended heartfelt congratulations to the organization’s members, the private sector, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Oye acknowledged the government’s efforts in tackling inherited economic, political, and security challenges while noting that some issues remain unresolved.
The statement highlighted several key points about Nigeria’s economic status as of 2024:
1. Nigeria has solidified its position as one of Africa’s largest economies and ranks among the global top 20.
2. With a population exceeding 220 million, Nigeria remains Africa’s most populous nation.
3. The country has achieved significant growth in sectors such as agriculture, creative industries, and the digital economy.
4. Nigeria maintains its status as the 15th largest oil producer globally.
5. The Nigerian film industry, Nollywood, is now the second-largest in the world.
Oye also emphasised Nigeria’s international influence, citing its active participation in UN peacekeeping missions and regional integration efforts through ECOWAS and the African Union.
He praised the resilience of the Nigerian private sector, highlighting the recent commissioning of the Dangote Refinery as a symbol of entrepreneurial success amidst challenges.
While acknowledging current economic headwinds, Oye expressed optimism for the future. He called for continued collaboration, innovation, and commitment to nation-building from the private sector to drive Nigeria’s growth and development.
The statement concluded with a message of hope and unity, as NACCIMA joined all Nigerians in celebrating the nation’s independence and looking forward to a more prosperous future.
