Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun has presented a cheque worth N132 million to families of fallen heroes in Plateau State.
Gatekeepers News reports that the IGP noted that the money belonged to families of police officers who lost their lives in active service.
The IGP who was represented by Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adesina at the Command Headquarters in Jos, expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
Egbetokun emphasised that the Nigeria Police Force considers vital, the welfare of its personnel and their loved ones.
He acknowledged that while the financial support being provided may not fully alleviate their pain and bring back to life their breadwinners, it served as a gesture of gratitude for the sacrifices they made.
He added that this initiative reaffirms the commitment of the force under his leadership to supporting its personnel and honouring the memory of those who have bravely served their beloved motherland.
Mr. Abraham Joseph Chimkul expressed gratitude to the IGP and the CP on behalf of the bereaved families.
