Mayasalis Entrepreneurship and Vocational Empowerment Foundation (MEVEF) recently launched its annual Back-to-School Project, providing essential educational materials to underprivileged pupils and orphans at UGBEVBOJE Primary Warrake School in Edo State, Nigeria.

Gatekeepers News reports that this initiative is part of MEVEF’s mission to develop individuals for self-reliance through vocational skills acquisition, entrepreneurship empowerment, agriculture, health, and education.

MEVEF distributed school bags, books, shoes, and water bottles to pupils, ensuring they have the necessary tools for a successful academic year. Also, the foundation donated a first aid kit to the school to handle emergency cases.

MEVEF’s focus on education aims to build communities of self-sustainable individuals who contribute to national prosperity. The Back-to-School Project introduces primary school pupils to skills acquisition through CLUB MEVEF, established in beneficiary schools. These clubs instil values, morals, and selflessness while emphasizing the importance of contributing to national growth.

Amb. Salmat Salisu Musah, MEVEF’s CEO, emphasised the critical role of upbringing in shaping a child’s character and future impact on society. She stressed teaching children selflessness and good moral standards from an early age to foster good character and responsibility toward humanity and their nation.

Mayasalis expressed gratitude to donors, citing the Zulu statement “umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu” (“I am because we are”). She concluded with the Greek proverb: “A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.” Mayasalis urged Nigerians to make sacrifices for Nigeria’s greatness and reaffirmed her commitment to contributing to Nigeria’s progress.
