Human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju has confirmed that controversial Nigerian singer, Darlington Okolie popularly known as Speed Darlington is in police detention in Abuja.
Gatekeepers News reports that there has been widespread concern on social media over the singer’s sudden disappearance from his home.
Also, a video that surfaced online showed an individual resembling the singer in handcuffs, suggesting he was arrested.
Additionally, Speed Darlington’s mother, Queen took to social media to beg the Grammy award-winning singer, Burna Boy to forgive and release her son.
Queen revealed that her son’s gateman informed her that Speed Darlington was taken away by Burna Boy, his squad, and police.
Adeyanju in a post on social media confirmed that Darlington was arrested in Lagos last week Friday and then transferred to Abuja, where he is been detained.
The lawyer added that he was arrested after a formal complaint was filed by Burna Boy.
He wrote, “We just spent the last 30mins with Speed Darlington and he narrated how he was arrested in Lagos Friday last week, moved around and eventually brought to Abuja and has been in detention since then. Petition against him was written by Burna Boy we can confirm.”
Darlington’s arrest comes after he took ti social media to taunt Burna Boy for being affiliated with the embattled US rapper Sean Diddy who is facing multiple charges bordering on sexual exploitation and human trafficking.
The ‘Akamu’ crooner asked Burna Boy to explain how he got his Grammy award for his album ‘Twice As Tall’ which was executive produced by Diddy, adding that there was a sexual relationship between the duo.
