Customers of the Ikeja Electric Distribution Company (IKEDC) have expressed their frustrations on social media regarding their inability to recharge their prepaid meters.
Gatekeepers News reports that this issue arose shortly after the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) announced a scheduled service downtime from October 18 to October 21 for the purpose of migrating to a new system.
As of Thursday, it was observed that IKEDC customers were encountering difficulties in recharging their prepaid meters through online platforms and physical payment outlets. The problem had persisted for more than 24 hours.
In response to the complaints, IKEDC attributed the service disruption to a network outage.
“We sincerely apologize for your inability to use our payment channels,” the company said.
“Our internet service providers are having severe infrastructure issues and we are currently working with them to resolve promptly and restore normalcy as soon as possible.”
