Kano State Hisbah Board has announced the arrest of Auwal Sankara, the Commissioner for Special Duties in Jigawa, in connection with an alleged affair with a married woman in Kano.
Gatekeepers News reports that the arrest took place at an uncompleted building owned by Sankara in Kano.
According to Abba Sufi, the Director General of the Kano Hisbah Board, the arrest followed a report made by Nasiru Bulama, who claimed that Sankara was involved in an illicit relationship with his wife, Tasleem Baba Nabegu, the mother of their two children.
“Yes, it is true we have arrested Auwal Danladi Sankara, the Jigawa commissioner, with a married woman in an uncompleted building that belongs to him, unknown to him that we were tracking him based on reports against him we received,” Sufi said.
“Nasiru Bulama filed the complaint with the Kano State Police Command, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Hisbah Board, alleging Sankara’s involvement in illicit sexual activities with his wife.”
Sufi said Sankara is also facing charges for running illicit drug centres under the names Picklock, 360, and three other locations.
“We have been having problems with Sankara because he is operating illicit drug centres disguised as hotels, where prostitution and drug addiction activities take place,” he added.
He noted that the prosecution of the commissioner would begin on Monday in a competent court of law.
