LG Election: Ogun Declares Friday As Public Holiday

Governor of Ogun state, Dapo Abiodun has declared Friday a public holiday ahead of the state’s LG elections scheduled to be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

Gatekeepers News reports that head of Service, Kehinde Onasanya announced this through a statement released on Thursday,

Onasanya said the holiday will allow electorate to travel to their respective LGAs to exercise their franchise.

The statement reads, “The bureau of service matters, office of the head of service, has announced that the Ogun state government has approved Friday, November 15, 2024, as a work-free day for civil and public servants.”

“This directive, approved by His Excellency, Governor Dapo Abiodun, is intended to give workers the opportunity to travel to their respective local government areas to participate in the local government election scheduled for Saturday, November 16, 2024.”

“This initiative underscores the administration’s dedication to fostering inclusiveness and participatory democracy.”

The head of service added that permanent secretaries and heads of agencies have been instructed to enforce the directive.
