All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all twenty (20) chairmanship seats in Ogun state local government election.

Gatekeepers News reports that chairman of Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), Babatunde Osibodu announced the results on Sunday in Abeokuta.

The OGSIEC chairman noted that APC also won all 236 councillorship seats. He noted that 613,156 votes across 236 council wards in the 20 LGAs were cast.

The state Governor, Dapo Abiodun while speaking after casting his vote on Saturday, said the turnout demonstrated people’s faith in democracy.

Abiodun commended OGSIEC for the process, adding that reports and feedback from the commission had been encouraging.

He said, “The feedback I have gotten has been very encouraging.”

“In any election, we can’t rule out logistic hiccups, but, by and large, electoral materials have reached all the nooks and crannies of the state and voting has commenced in earnest.”

“I want to commend our law enforcement agencies. I have noticed the presence of the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Department of State Security (DSS) and Amotekun Corps.”

The Governor also appreciated security agencies for their collaborative efforts in ensuring a peaceful election.
