Bauchi state Governor, Bala Mohammed has signed the state’s 2025 budget of N467 billion into law.
Gatekeepers News reports that Mohammed had earlier on November 21, 2024, presented the N465 billion 2025 Appropriation Bill to the state House of Assembly for approval.
Presenting the estimate tagged: “Budget of Consolidation and Sustainable Development,” Mohammed said that it complied with the national format chart of accounts to ensure effective implementation.
The Governor while speaking during the signing of the budget into law, said that it would take effect from Jan. 1, 2025.
Mohammed commended members of the assembly for their commitment to the review of the budget proposal, leading to its being signed into law.
He noted that the budget represents his administration’s mission to develop the state and assured that other sources of revenue would be leveraged to optimise the state’s budget performance.
Earlier, Speaker of the Assembly, Abubakar Sulaiman noted that the budget was increased to N467 billion from N465 billion to accommodate the state’s developmental needs, after all the necessary legislative procedure and review.
Sulaiman said that the assembly, through various committees, meticulously reviewed the proposal to ensure that adequate resources were allocated to all sectors.
He said the N2 billion increment in the budget was a reflection of the transparency and oversight function of the assembly.
