Operatives of Gombe state police command have arrested six suspects in connection with a case of criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, and attempted kidnapping.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), DSP Buhari Abdullahi announced this in a statement on Friday.
The suspects, Muhammad Musa Korau, 28, Aisha Jibir, 28, Musa Haruna, 35, Musa Muhammad Ajiya, 24, Saleh Wammi, 42, and Abubakar Isah, 45, who are from Layi Village of Dukku LG were arrested following a formal complaint by Muhammad Ibrahim, 29, a resident of Bagadazan Fulani Village.
The PRO said, “The victim reported that on January 4, 2025, at about 0400hrs, unknown persons numbering about ten, armed themselves and used three motorcycles to invade his house, putting him in fear of death.”
The suspects allegedly stole Ibrahim’s motorcycle worth N1,020,000, and N2,740,000 in cash. A keypad techno handset was recovered as an exhibit.
Abdullahi said, “The suspects were arrested based on intelligence gathering, and they will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.”
The spokesman noted that an investigation into the matter is ongoing and the force is working to recover the stolen motorcycle and cash.
He added, “The arrest of the six suspects is a significant breakthrough in the case, and the police are urging anyone with information about the crime to come forward.”
“We are committed to ensuring that justice is served in this case, and we will do everything in our power to bring the perpetrators to justice.”
The Command further warned that it will not tolerate any form of criminal activity in the state, and will do everything in its power to protect the lives and property of citizens.
Abdullahi said, “We urge the public to continue to cooperate with us, and to report any suspicious activity to the police.”
