Anambra state’s security outfit, Operation Udo Ga-Achi (Agunechemba) has demolished Udoka Golden Point Hotel, also known as La Cruise Hotel” located along the Onitsha-Owerri Road.
Gatekeepers News reports that the hotel was demolished after it was found to be a haven for kidnappers and other criminal activities.
30 partitioned graves on the top floor of the two-story building, a shrine, live ammunition, and other suspicious items were discovered in the building.
The security operatives in a statement posted on X, on Saturday, confirmed the incident, which was part of a broader investigation into criminal hideouts across the state.
They also recovered blood-stained objects and live cartridges, which were handed over to Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) office in Awkuzu.
The security team leader, in a video shared on Sunday, said, “We found a shrine, live ammunition, and cartridges while removing the pot used for their rituals. The pot, containing blood, has been handed over to the police as evidence.”
He added that the top floor of the hotel contained well-partitioned graves for more than 30 individuals, alongside the shrine used for spiritual activities.
Chief Press Secretary to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Christian Aburime also confirmed the demolition, stating that it was part of an ongoing investigation linking the hotel to kidnapping operations.
Soludo noted that the local community had previously reported hearing frequent gunshots at night but was afraid to speak out due to potential reprisals.
He said, “The hotel was demolished after thorough investigation revealed it was a kidnappers’ den. We discovered graves, army uniforms, live cartridges, and other incriminating items. The local community had long been plagued by criminal activities.”
The spokesman noted that the government’s newly enacted Homeland Security Law of 2025 gives citizens and law enforcement more authority to take decisive action against criminal elements.
He said, “We are making significant progress in flushing out criminals from Anambra State. This drastic action is yielding positive results. More buildings linked to crimes such as kidnapping, robbery, and hired killings will be demolished, and their owners prosecuted.”
