United States President Donald Trump has disclosed that Microsoft is in talks to purchase TikTok.

Gatekeepers News reports that Reuters in a report on Tuesday, said Trump made the disclosure to reporters on Monday.

Although the president didn’t provide a full list of US firms interested in buying the app, he said there was “great interest in TikTok”.

He said, “I like bidding wars because you make your best deals.”

Recall that TikTok disconnected access to its users in US in the late hours of Saturday, 18 January, shortly before the law banning it from the country took effect.

Microsoft declined to comment.
On January 19, TikTok was shut down in the United States following a federal ban over national security concerns tied to its Chinese ownership.

Trump on his first day in office, signed an executive order delaying the enforcement of the ban by 75 days, allowing TikTok to resume operations.

Subsequently, the president announced that the US should receive 50 percent of any proceeds from the potential sale of TikTok in a joint venture proposition.

On January 22, Trump said he was open to the possibility of Elon Musk, owner of Tesla and X, purchasing TikTok.
