Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN)has confirmed that premium motor spirit (PMS) supplied by Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited meets the highest industry standards.
Gatekeepers News reports that Joseph Obele, spokesman of PETROAN expressed its support for NNPC in a statement on Sunday.
Obele noted that the association conducted a rigorous test on NNPC’s petroleum products after allegations in a viral video emerged that the petrol sold by MRS Oil lasts longer than that of NNPC.
He noted that PETROAN engaged independent standard laboratories to test and verify the quality of petroleum products before lifting them from any depot or refinery.
The spokesman said, “Our comprehensive tests include flash point, density, viscosity, sulfur content, water content, and ash content tests.”
“The results of these tests are satisfactory, demonstrating that NNPCL’s petroleum products meet and exceed the required industry standards.”
“Specifically: Flash point test: exceeds minimum requirement, indicating low risk of ignition.”
“Density test: meets prescribed density standards, ensuring optimal engine performance and fuel efficiency.”
“Viscosity test: falls within acceptable range, ensuring smooth engine operation and minimizing wear and tear.”
“Sulfur content test: meets regulatory limits, reducing risk of engine corrosion and environmental pollution.”
“Water content test: well below maximum allowable limit, ensuring fuel stability and preventing engine problems.”
“Ash content test: meets regulatory limits, reducing risk of engine wear and tear.”
“We are confident in the quality of petroleum products supplied by NNPCL, which adheres to strict industry standards.”
Obele urged the public to disregard fabricated content and instead rely on verified sources for accurate information.
Billy Gillis-Harry, PETROAN president advised content creators to exercise caution and act responsibly when sharing information on sensitive matters.
He said, “We urge content creators not to joke with sensitive matters that have the capacity to collapse the economy.”
“The impact of false information on the economy cannot be overstated.”
Obele added that PETROAN supports healthy competition among industry players, encouraging them to improve products and services, invest in research and development, and prioritise customer satisfaction.
