Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the senator representing Kogi Central, has requested that the proceedings of her upcoming Senate probe be broadcast live.

Gatekeepers News reports that this follows an incident on February 20, when she caused a disruption during plenary by rejecting her assigned seat and repeatedly raising a point of order, despite being overruled by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

In response to her actions, the Senate has referred her case to the committee on ethics, privileges, and public petitions for a disciplinary review.

Akpoti-Uduaghan expressed her readiness to face the committee but insisted that the proceedings should not be conducted in secrecy.

In a statement on her X page, the senator mentioned that she had chosen to remain silent on this matter and other developments within the Senate.

“In as much as I have refrained from publicly speaking on matters and a lot of occurrences at the Senate under Senate President Akpabio, it’s about time I break my silence,” the statement reads.

“Arise TV set a date and I shall be in your studio in person. Spare no questions. And to Nigerians, please, be sure to join the probe which I shall insist would be covered live.

“The next few days and weeks shall be interesting but will shape the standard and quality of Nigeria’s leadership.”

She shared a copy of a petition with her post, urging Nigerians to closely follow the proceedings.

On Tuesday, Akpoti-Uduaghan filed a multi-billion-naira defamation lawsuit against Senate President Akpabio.

The suit, filed at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, alleges that Akpabio and his legislative aide, Mfon Patrick, made defamatory remarks about her.

In her court filing, she has requested that the defendants withdraw the statements and publish an apology in a national newspaper.
