Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced a temporary closure of runway 18R/36L at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos for rehabilitation work.

Gatekeepers Newreports that this initiative, according to Obiageli Orah, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, is part of ongoing efforts to maintain the runway in optimal condition.

“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria wishes to inform the general public that there would be a temporary closure of Runway 18R/36L at Murtala Muhammed Airport Lagos from the 03:00Hrs of 3rd of March 2025 23:59Hrs of 4th March 2025,” the statement reads.

“The closure is due to ongoing rehabilitation work (asphalt phase) at the A2 Taxiway-link of the runway.”

To ensure that flight operations continue smoothly, all flights will be redirected to the alternative runway 18L/36R during the rehabilitation period.

Orah emphasised FAAN’s commitment to safety, security, and passenger comfort throughout this process.
