Newcastle Defeat Liverpool To Win League Cup

Newcastle secured a 2-1 goal over Liverpool in the League Cup final played at Wembley on Sunday.

Gatekeepers News reports that Dan Burn and Alexander Isak delivered a performance that stunned the Premier League leaders and etched their names in Newcastle’s history.

Burn opened the scoring just before halftime, and Isak doubled the lead early in the second half with his 27th goal of the season.

Although Federico Chiesa pulled one back for Liverpool in stoppage time, Newcastle held firm to lift their first major silverware since winning the 1969 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup.

This marks Newscastle’s first domestic cup victory in 70 years, dating back to their 1955 FA Cup win.

Liverpool’s defeat came days after their Champions League last 16 exit on penalties against Paris Saint-Germain. It however maintains a commanding 12-point lead at the top of the Premier League, within touching distance of a record-equalling 20th English title.
