Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has weighed in on the ongoing debate surrounding Nnamdi Kanu’s detention, stating that the IPOB leader’s release is not directly linked to the insecurity in the south-east.
Gatekeepers News reports that Soludo made this statement during a media chat marking his third year in office, emphasizing that “the release of Nnamdi Kanu, for me, is different from the issue of security. I separate the two, I don’t link the two”.
This stance diverges from the views of various stakeholders in the south-east, who have been advocating for Kanu’s release as a key step in addressing the region’s rising insecurity.
Despite Soludo’s comments, calls for Kanu’s release have persisted, with governors, senators, and traditional rulers from the south-east urging President Bola Tinubu to take action.
