Pope Francis Discharged From Rome Hospital

Pope Francis was discharged from Gemelli Hospital on Sunday, 23 March, 2025.

Gatekeepers News reports that before leaving, Francis made a brief appearance at the window of the hospital, where he offered a blessing to the gathered crowd before being discharged.

The pope was discharged minutes later. Doctors recommended that he rest at the Vatican for at least two months to aid his recovery.

Dr. Sergio Alfieri, one of the physicians treating the Pope, revealed that Francis had experienced “two very critical episodes” during his five-week hospitalization.

The doctor noted that Francis was never intubated and remained alert and oriented throughout his stay. While not yet fully recovered, he no longer has pneumonia and is expected to resume work as soon as his health allows.

Since his hospitalization, Pope Francis had only been seen in a Vatican-released photo showing him praying in a hospital chapel.
