World Cup Qualifiers: Nigeria Draws With Zimbabwe

Super Eagles of Nigeria were held to a 1-1 draw by Zimbabwe in their sixth 2026 World Cup qualification match on Tuesday.

Gatekeepers Newreports that the game, played at the Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo, saw Victor Osimhen’s powerful header cancelled out by a late strike from Tawanda Chiwenda.

Nigeria dominated the game, with Osimhen and Samuel Chukwueze coming close to scoring in the first half. Washington Arubi, the Zimbabwean goalkeeper, made several impressive saves to keep Nigeria at bay.

The breakthrough finally came in the 74th minute, when Osimhen headed home a cross from Ola Aina. However, Nigeria’s lead was short-lived, as Zimbabwe equalized through Chiwenda after capitalizing on a defensive lapse.
