Tinubu Appoints New Management Teams For River Basin Authorities

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the reconstitution of the top Management of 12 River Basin Development Authorities with the mandate of effectively developing and managing Nigeria’s water resource for national development.

Gatekeepers News reports that the newly appointed leadership teams cover various regions across the country.

This was announced in a statement by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations for Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

In the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority, Odebunmi Olusegun will serve as chairman, while Adedeji Ashiru takes on the role of managing director. Other key appointments include Ayo Oyalowo as executive director of finance, Dokunmu Olufemi Oyekunle for planning and design, Suleiman Oris for agricultural services, and Sowade Oluwakayode Adebayo for engineering.

For Upper Benue River Basin Development Authority, Sanusi Mohammed Babantanko has been named chairman, with Samuel Mahmud Mohammed as managing director. Usman Babandubu Bakare will oversee engineering, Ibrahim Dasuki Jalo will handle finance, Isa Matori will be responsible for planning and design, while Hamman Dikko will manage agricultural services.

Chad Basin Development Authority will be led by Abdu Dauda as chairman and Tijjani Musa Tumsa as managing director. The executive directors include Bashir Baale for finance, Iliyasu Muazu for agricultural services, Mohammed Shetima for engineering, and Vrati Nzonzo for planning and design.

Similarly, Mike Ohio Ezomo has been appointed chairman of the Benin-Owena Development Authority, with Femi Adekanbi as managing director. Other key positions include Austin Nonyelim Izagbo for planning and design, Johnson Oghuma for agricultural services, Adegboyega Bamisile for finance, and Bayode Akinduro for engineering.

In Niger Delta Basin Development Authority, Ebikemi Boi Bosin will serve as chairman, while Amgbare Ebitimi assumes the role of managing director. The executive leadership includes Mary Alagoa for finance, Chucks Erhire for engineering, Felix Kurogha for agricultural services, and Nnamdi Akani for planning and design.

Upper Niger River Basin Development Authority in Minna will have Haruna Y. Usman as chairman and Aliyu Tajudeen as managing director. Mohammed Usma will handle finance, Abdullahi A. Kutso will oversee planning and design, Ayuba Waziri Tedde will manage agricultural services, and John Hassan will lead the engineering department.

Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority, covering Kwara and Kogi states, will be led by Abdullateef Alakawa as chairman, with George Olumoroti serving as managing director. Other key appointments include Babajamu Adeniran as executive director of engineering, Abdullahi Sadiq for agricultural services, Alanamu Ayinla Abolere for planning and design, and Abidemi Adeyemi for finance.

For Lower Benue River Basin Development Authority, Amos Gizo Yadukso has been appointed chairman, while Ninga Terese takes on the role of managing director. Sunday Kubba Hassan will oversee planning, Yusuf Omaaki will be in charge of finance, Hassan Omale will manage agricultural services, and Okibe Timothy Ogomola will head the engineering division.

Anambra-Imo River Basin Development Authority, which covers Anambra, Imo, Enugu, Abia, and Ebonyi states, will be chaired by Emmanuel Anosike, with Emeka Nduka as managing director. Other executive appointments include Nwebonyi Priscilla Nkechi for finance, Evaristus Asadu for engineering, Onukwubiri N. Ojigwe for agricultural services, and Abigail Igwe for planning and design.

In Hadejia-Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, Mamman Da’u Aliyu has been named chairman, with Rabiu Suleiman Bichi as managing director. Tijjani Musa Isa will oversee planning and design, Zainab Gamawa will manage agricultural services, Baffa Dandatti Abdulkadir will head engineering, and Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso will take charge of finance.

Cross River Basin Development Authority, responsible for Cross River and Akwa Ibom states, will be chaired by Wabilly Nyiam, with Glory Ekpo Oho serving as managing director. Effiwatt Otu Eyo has been appointed executive director of finance, Ebiere Etuk Udoh for agricultural services, Charles Usua Akpan for engineering, and Ndom Abia for planning and design.

For Sokoto Rima Basin Development Authority, which covers Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, and Katsina states, Bello Yahaya Wurno has been appointed chairman, while Abubakar Mallam takes on the role of managing director. Kabiru Ladan Maigoro will oversee planning and design, Abubakar Ibrahim will be responsible for finance, Muttaka Badaru Jikamshi will manage agricultural services, and Mansur Aminu will head engineering.

President Tinubu charged the appointees to pool their wealth of experience together by injecting new lease of life in their respective areas of responsibilities in harnessing and developing the nation’s vast water resource potentials for national development.
