Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called for a thorough investigation into the bombing of the Rivers State House of Assembly complex on October 29, 2023.
Gatekeepers News reports that this demand comes after Dr. George Nwaeke, the former Head of Service in Rivers State, publicly revealed that suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara allegedly orchestrated the bombing.
According to Nwaeke, Fubara directed his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, to carry out the attack to prevent his impeachment by lawmakers aligned with Minister Nyesom Wike. Nwaeke claimed to have witnessed a cash handover to Ehie for the purpose of the attack.
The APC maintains that Nwaeke’s account cannot be dismissed as hearsay, given his position as the number 3 man in the state. The party argues that the revelations have further solidified its position as a voice for the voiceless and a beacon of hope for a better Rivers State.
The APC has urged security agencies to conduct a professional investigation, get to the root cause of the matter, and make their findings public.
