President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritising the welfare of Nigerian workers.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a message posted on his official X account to commemorate Workers’ Day, Tinubu lauded the role played by workers across various sectors in advancing national development.
He said, “To every Nigerian worker, Happy Workers’ Day. You are the engine of our economy and the secret to our nation’s growth. Our administration has and will continue to prioritise workers’ welfare. Together, we will make Nigeria great again.”
The president also recognised the contributions of all workers, including entrepreneurs and employees in both the private and public sectors.
He wrote, “Here’s to everyone – young and old, entrepreneur or employee, in the private or public sector – whose meaningful contributions help in no small way to the development of our homes, communities, and our dear nation.”
“Happy Workers’ Day, Nigeria.”
The president’s message comes as labour unions continue to push for better working conditions, full implementation of the new minimum wage, and stronger protections for workers’ rights. Workers across the country marked the day with rallies and renewed advocacy for improved welfare.
