Operatives of Nigeria Police Force have carried out a series of successful operations in Benue and Delta States.
Gatekeepers News reports that during the operations, three armed bandits were killed, nine suspects were arrested and two kidnap victims were rescued.
The Force Public Relations Officer (PRO), ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, said the achievements are a result of intelligence-led and proactive policing strategies.
On Saturday, May 3, 2025, operatives of Benue State Police Command, acting on credible intelligence, engaged in a gun battle with a group of suspected bandits near Tse-Gondo axis in Sankera area, where the suspects were reportedly planning attacks on security personnel.
The PRO said, “Three of the bandits sustained fatal gunshot injuries and were confirmed dead at the hospital.”
Two locally fabricated firearms and several live cartridges were recovered from the scene.
Meanwhile, in Delta State, multiple raids were executed throughout April, leading to arrests and recoveries linked to various criminal activities.
On April 22, a suspected car thief, Henry Okpor, was taken into custody. He was found in possession of a pump-action shotgun, a Toyota Highlander (registration RBC-414-BL), and a Hyundai vehicle (registration LSD-367-DU), all believed to be stolen.
Three days later, on April 25, anti-cultism efforts led to the arrest of two men—Mudiaga Okparume and Arinze Humble—alleged to be members of the Vikings confraternity. Two Beretta pistols and five live rounds were seized during the operation.
On April 26, police operatives rescued two kidnapped victims from Uvwiama forest in Ughelli North LGA. The victims had been abducted from Agbarho. Nine suspects were apprehended during the rescue mission. The team also seized a cache of arms, including three pump-action guns, three barrel guns, a locally fabricated firearm, and 13 live cartridges.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun commended the efforts of the operatives involved and assured Nigerians that the Force remains resolute in protecting lives and property across the country.
