Sokoto Govt To Probe Unremitted Workers Loan Deductions

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has vowed to launch a thorough investigation into the alleged failure to remit loan deductions taken from workers’ salaries to the respective banks.

Gatekeepers News reports that this followed an appeal by the state chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Abdullahi Aliyu, who urged the state government to intervene in the issue.

The state NLC chairman said numerous workers who secured loans through salary deductions are now facing serious financial difficulties due to the previous administration’s failure to forward the deducted funds to the banks.

He said, “Your Excellency, please come to the aid of these people. They have been at a crossroads for years.”

“We know you to be firm in defending people’s rights. Please apply your popular slogan, in kudi kudi, in aiki aiki, to recover the diverted funds.”

Governor Aliyu reaffirmed his commitment to justice and accountability, and assured labour Union and affected workers that a probe will be carried out.

He said, “This administration prioritizes human rights and will not condone any violations under any guise.”

“We are committed to protecting the rights of the weak, the less privileged, and the downtrodden in our state.”

The Governor further called on people of Sokoto to continue offering their support and cooperation to his administration, assuring them of his dedication to equitable governance and the delivery of democratic dividends.

He thanked the public for their unwavering prayers for his government and urged citizens to keep up the support.
