Senators Adamu Aliero, Yahaya Abdullahi, and Garba Maidoki, who currently represent Kebbi State, have declared their intention to switch their party affiliation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Gatekeepers News reports that the announcement was made on Friday following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja.
The senators were accompanied to the meeting by Abdullahi Ganduje, the national chairman of the APC.
Aliero represents Kebbi central, while Abdullahi and Maidoki represent Kebbi north and Kebbi south, respectively.
Also in attendance at the meeting with the president were Nasir Idris, governor of Kebbi; Ahmad Aliyu, governor of Sokoto; and Atiku Bagudu, minister of budget and economic planning.
The lawmakers’ decision to join the APC is expected to strengthen the party’s influence in Kebbi and enhance its position in the national assembly.
