Former senator Ben Murray-Bruce has opined that renowned Afrobeats artist Davido could potentially pursue a political career, specifically aiming for the governorship of Osun State.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a video shared on X, Murray-Bruce emphasised Davido’s strong political background and his considerable influence as crucial elements that may support his future leadership ambitions.
Murray-Bruce noted the singer’s family ties to Osun’s political landscape, describing them as having deep-rooted connections. He also highlighted Davido’s global recognition and his ability to resonate with younger Nigerians, positioning him as a compelling candidate for future political office.
“David Adeleke, the global phenomenon better known as Davido, is undeniably an international artiste and a true Nigerian superstar,” he said.
“He stands as one of Nigeria’s most valuable cultural exports. However, beneath the surface of this music icon lies a side that many may not be aware of.
“He is, by his own admission, a political animal with deeply held views and a clear-cut political ideology. This revelation, which came to light through a personal discussion, perhaps, shouldn’t be entirely surprising when you consider the DNA of the Adeleke family.
“His uncle, Senator Ademola Adeleke, is the Governor of Osun State. Furthermore, his uncle, Isiaka Adeleke, also served as a former Governor of Osun State during Ibrahim Babangida’s military administration.
“Considering all of these, the thought that Davido himself could one day aspire to become the Governor of Osun State seems more like a potential trajectory, especially if his political inclinations are nurtured and strategically channelled.
“Here in Nigeria, there is a growing sentiment that more entertainers should consider seeking political positions. Their ability to connect with the different demographics could inject fresh perspectives and dynamism into the political landscape. Davido, if you run, I predict you will win.”
