Favour Ofili Break Women’s 150m World Record At Atlanta City Games

Favour Ofili has set a new women’s world
record by breaking the women’s 150m world record at Adidas Atlanta City Games.

Gatekeepers News reports that she blazed through the race in an astonishing 15.85 seconds, surpassing the previous record of 19.07 seconds set by Shaunae Miller-Uibo in 2018 by almost four seconds.

She finished well ahead of her closest rival, American Tamari Davis, to become the first woman ever to complete the 150m in under 16 seconds.

The 22-year-old sprinter had previously won the same race in 2023 with a record-setting time, but this year’s performance exceeded all expectations.

Also in 2023, Ofili set an African record in the 200m with a time of 22.36 seconds at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Reflecting on her performance in an interview after the race, Ofili credited her success to a combination of faith and relentless training.

She said, “The Lord is good, and is marvellous in my sight. Honestly, I’m surprised with the time.”

“But I know I put in the work, I trust my coach, I trust his program, and I know at the right time the Lord would do it.”

“When asked how she was able to finish the race strongly, Ofili said she got advice to relax and treat the race “like it is 100[metres].”
