Osun Prison Escapee Arrested In Lagos

Operatives of Lagos police command have arrested Kabiru Oyedun, 39, one of the inmates who escaped from Medium Security Custodial Centre in llesa, Osun state.

Gatekeepers News reports that confirming the arrest on Friday, Benjamin Hundeyin, revealed that the fugitive was arrested in the Ayobo area of Lagos.

According to Hundeyin, Oyedun was apprehended on May 21, 2025, around 5:30 p.m. by operatives attached to the Ayobo Division, following proactive security measures to prevent criminal infiltration into the state.

The prison break occurred on Tuesday after a downpour damaged part of the correctional centre’s perimeter wall, enabling seven inmates to flee.

Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) on Wednesday, released the names and photos of the escapees and announced a ₦5 million reward for useful information leading to their recapture.

The names released include John Micheal (34), Tobi Akin (19), Eze Nweze (40), Ninalowo Yusuf (28), Matthew Ogunjimi (20), Kabiru Oyedun (39), and Olalekan Ajofoyinbo (45).
