Minister of State Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmodu on Wednesday formally handed over various completed people oriented projects to the Borno State Government.

Gatekeepers News reports that Hon Ahmodu said the development projects is aimed at empowering of people of the state who are still recovering from the devastating floods that hit two most populous Council Areas of Maiduguri and Jere.

This was disclosed when the Minister of State Regional Development embarked on series of projects commissioning within and outside Maiduguri, the state capital.

According to the Minister, “The establishment of the NEDC was borne out of the need to rebuild and stabilize the region after years of insurgency and economic disruption. It reflects our shared vision for sustainable peace, development, and prosperity in the North East.

“Today’s handing over of completed projects by the NEDC is a testament to that vision. It aligns with the broader North East Stabilization and Development Plan (NESDP) and the 25-year Borno State Development Master Plan, which provides a long-term framework for social, infrastructural, and economic transformation.Under the MRD’s coordination, we are prioritizing several critical sectors in our regional development strategy,” the Minister said.

He added that “We have criss -crossed areas of security, infrastructure, health care delivery system, education and we’re moving ahead to a notch higher than where the NEDC is today.”

Borno State Governor, Prof Babagana Zulum who accompanied the Minister to sites of the various projects commended the Federal Government of Nigeria for coming to aide of people in the state and region through NEDC.

“I want to once again commend the NEDC. There’s no Federal Agency that has done so well to the people and government of Borno State like the NEDC,” Zulum said.

But the Governor however call on the NEDC to prioritise long-term projects that will have greater impact on the lives of the people.

“We want to move forward from ( NEDC) providing shorter time none sustainable solutions to medium and long-term sustainable and durable solutions. ” Zulum said.

The projects handed over to the state level include ; the newly constructed and fully furnished Police Barracks- Police Station with perimeter fencing in Konduga and Bama Local Government Councils, the construction and fully equipped DSS Ultra-Modern Clinic with 30 KW Solar Mini- Grid System and Two (2) units of Three – Bedroom bungalows with an ambulance.

Others include the renovated Male and Female Wards at the Federal Neuropsychiatric , Borno State Dental Hospitals all in Maiduguri, the state capital, A fully equipped Borno State Eye Hospital and an ICT Centre for about 1,000 students of Federal Polytechnic Monguno and Borno Agency for Mass Literacy, Maidugur amongst other projects.
