European Commission has extended a warm welcome to Elon Musk, following his public feud with US President Donald Trump.
Gatekeepers News reports that during a daily briefing, spokesperson Paula Pinho was asked if Musk had reached out to the EU to relocate or set up new businesses.
“He’s very welcome,” she replied with a smile.
Thomas Regnier, the Commission’s tech spokesperson, emphasised that “everyone is very welcome indeed to start and to scale in the EU,” highlighting the “Choose Europe” initiative that supports start-ups and business expansion.
Thr initiative aims to facilitate startup and business growth, offer a favorable environment for technological innovation, promote partnerships between businesses and EU institutions
The EU’s openness to Musk comes after a bitter exchange between him and Trump on social media, sparked by Trump’s threat to strip Musk of $18 billion in government contracts.
Musk responded by vowing to end a critical US spaceship program, citing Trump’s plan to end electric vehicle subsidies.
Trump claimed Musk had gone “crazy” over the plan, leading to a significant plunge in Tesla’s stock value.
