The North-East chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for a second term in 2027 presidential election.
Gatekeepers News reports that the endorsement was made during a consultative meeting held in Gombe on Sunday.
The meeting was attended by prominent figures including Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, and Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya, alongside thousands of APC members.
The forum commended Tinubu and Shettima for what it described as impactful and transformative governance under the Renewed Hope agenda.
Governor Zulum while speaking, highlighted the administration’s achievements in sectors such as healthcare, education, youth and women empowerment, revenue generation, and general improvements in citizens’ welfare.
The Governor urged Nigerians to support a leadership committed to unity, progress, and national development.
There was chaos briefly on Sunday when some party officials endorsed Tinubu for a second term without mentioning Vice President Shettima.
The controversy began with a speech by Mustapha Salihu, APC National Vice-Chairman (North-East), who named Tinubu as 2027 presidential candidate but failed to acknowledge Shettima.
This omission sparked outrage among delegates, leading to shouting matches and threats of violence. Security personnel quickly escorted Salihu out as tensions escalated.
The situation was later calmed when another party leader, Dalori, addressed the gathering and reaffirmed support for both Tinubu and Shettima.
